Our Teachers

Amy Pauls

2011 will be Amy's second year at Lighthouse Preschool. Before coming to Lighthouse she worked in the Head Start Program here on San Juan Island. Amy writes, I have always had a history of working with children either in a preschool setting or as a nanny. I am so happy to be at Lighthouse Preschool and feel so blessed to be able to do something I love. My favorite part of my job is having quiet moments with each child during a game or reading a book together, and I love seeing them able to leave Lighthouse Preschool with all the skills they will need for kindergarten.

Amy is married to Bob Pauls, and they have two daughters, Gracie (age 9) and Ally (age 7). She concludes, We moved to the Island in 2005 and have never regretted it. We love living in such a beautiful place and in such a great community. Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your child's life.

Autumn Hallock

For the past four years Autumn has worked as the Lead Teacher for both the toddler and three-year-old programs at Alphabet Soup Childcare in Friday Harbor. Autumn writes, I am ever so excited to be joining Amy at Lighthouse Preschool. Working with children is definite my calling and passion. I started as a teen babysitting small children and later took up nannying as a way to work in my chosen field. I love giving children valuable skills at such a tender and precious age that will carry them through life. What I love most about working with young children is creative movement. Whether through songs, stories, plays, or just to get the wiggles out, I enjoy watching them discover who they are through the movement of their bodies.

Autumn is married to Chris Hallock. They have three children Alyssa (age 14), Christopher (age 11) and Kenny (age 8). Autumn writes, I moved to the Island as a young girl in 1992, and after a short time away, I returned to this amazing community. I love to garden and work with textiles. Thank you for giving me time with your most cherished treasure!
